CQC registration questions

Can you help a GP or nurse register a private practice?

Yes. Private GP and nurse-led services usually involve regulated activities such as treatment of disease, disorder or injury, diagnostic and screening procedures, or surgical procedures. We confirm your scope, write your policies for the services you offer and prepare you for registration.

Which regulated activities apply to aesthetic clinics?

The ones we see most are treatment of disease, disorder or injury (for example anti-wrinkle injections for excessive sweating or migraine), surgical procedures (for example mole and lesion removal) and diagnostic and screening procedures (for example blood tests). Purely cosmetic injectables are not currently a regulated activity.

What does the registration package include?

A scope check, your full CQC application prepared with you, a policy and SOP pack written for your clinic, Registered Manager interview preparation, a mock inspection with a gap report, and support answering CQC's questions until a decision is made.

What does CQC charge?

CQC does not charge an application fee. Once registered you pay an annual fee, which depends on your type and size of service. We will tell you which fee band you are likely to fall into at the scope call.

How long will it take?

We typically help you complete a validation-ready application in 4 to 8 weeks. CQC aims to decide applications within 10 weeks of receiving them, but this varies.

Can I be my own Registered Manager?

If you are registering as an individual and you manage the service day to day, you may not need a separate Registered Manager. Partnerships and limited companies normally do. We will check your set-up.

Can you register a clinic outside Essex?

Yes. We work with clinics across England by video, with on-site visits for mock inspections where needed.
